Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know any Greek to start?

No. Lesson one starts from zero with the most frequent words in the New Testament (ὁ, καί, αὐτός…). Short tap-only lessons build from there. We do recommend knowing the Greek alphabet first, so you can recognize the letters as you go.

Which Greek text do you use?

The SBL Greek New Testament with MorphGNT morphological tagging — a scholarly, openly licensed edition. Word glosses come from a public-domain lexicon. For word level tap hint, we used macula greek, and for whole verse translation, we used berean literal bible, and there might be inconsistencies in the translation.

Will this teach me grammar?

The focus is vocabulary and reading comprehension, not a grammar course. You will absorb a lot of grammar by reading real text; it pairs well with a standard grammar textbook.

When do I get to read actual passages?

Guided reading unlocks partway through the path, book by book — as soon as you know enough of a passage's vocabulary — not after finishing the whole course. Early units already use real GNT phrases; complete pericopes open as your coverage grows.

What does the audio sound like?

Modern Greek pronunciation, synthesized with a neural voice. Reconstructed Koine and Erasmian options are not offered yet.

Do I have to type Greek?

No. Every exercise is tap-to-answer — multiple choice, matching, cloze, and word-bank arrange. You never have to type Greek.
